The Bluegrass Gospelaires group was
formed in December 2005. The
members at that time were Buford
Tankersley and Jim and Linda Henson.
Bobby Ward joined the group in
February 2006, and Jack McDivitt joined
the group later in the year.
The Bluegrass Gospelaires perform at
various churches and different functions
throughout the community including
Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi.
Bobby Ward plays the guitar and sings
for the group. He started playing and
singing at a young age and has played
with several gospel groups but decided
the Bluegrass Gospelaires was the one
he wanted to be a part of.
Jim Henson - Jim plays the guitar and
sings. He also writes songs and has
written 2 of the songs that the group
performs. He too, played and sang in
his early years but let it fall by the way
until he met up with Buford, as did his
wife Linda, when the three of them
formed the Bluegrass Gospelaires.
Linda Henson plays the bass fiddle for
the group. She started playing the Bass
at age 13, as well as the guitar and
piano. Linda is presently learning to
play the mandolin and will be singing
for the group in the future. She and
Buford are the backup singers for the
group.
Buford Tankersley is the banjo player
for the group. He has been playing and
singing for many years and with many
groups. He also plays the guitar and
writes songs. It was through Buford
and Jim's friendship at Cornerstone
Baptist Church that led to forming this
group. Buford has also agreed that the
Bluegrass Gospelaires is the group for
him.
Jack Mcdivitt is the mandolin player.
He is the only Tennessean in the group.
Jack also plays with other groups in
Tennessee but always seems to have
playing dates open for the Gospelaires.
He also plays the guitar and sings.
