Notes:
We recently had the assignment to
follow the Duhon Boys on stage at the
Esters' Camp-N-Jam at Longville Lake,
Louisiana. As I enjoyed their
performance, I was reminded again that
the ultimate source for America's music
was, and remains, the Christian family.
Daniel, Aaron, and Stephen Duhon,
three young brothers from Singer,
Louisiana, discovered their love of music
in the Fall of 2000, when they were ages
12, 11, and 9. They began with a
homeschool band playing praise and
worship. About a year later they heard a
boy of their age and a couple of "senior
citizens" playing bluegrass music at a
local syrup mill / tree farm. That was
their first inspiration to play bluegrass
gospel.
Today, the Duhon family is busy on the
2006 festival circuit and "a hard act to
follow", as you'll appreciate when you
hear them live or listen to A Closer Walk.
The CD features Daniel on fiddle, bass,
and harmony vocals. Aaron plays guitar
and sings lead and harmony. Stephen
sings tenor and plays banjo, mandolin,
and dobro. Margaret "Mom" Duhon
plays bass and sings lead. Together,
this family provides some truly inspiring
and uplifting gospel music.
"Our desire as we worship our Lord
Jesus Christ, through the gifts He has
given us, is that we would point others to
Him ... "
